In the last few days at The Prosperity Project- Journey of 1,000 Steps, we have been tasked with making social media quotes for the core values we chose back on day 2.
Here are mine so far:
After I created the image for the second value, I thought it would be great timing to use the faith image on the facebook page of The Garden.
Sunday is a great day to remind us of the faith we have for our spirituality, whether Christian or otherwise.
And for some reason the creative writer who studies too much looked at it, and began wondering whether or not I was using the correct wording for the merit badges…..
maybe instead of:
“Today I choose to….?”
maybe it should be:
“Choose today to……”
I thought it would be a great opportunity to see how different they look when I remove the word “I” and put the word “Choose” first.
What do you think? I’ll put them both side by side and if you would like to share your thoughts, please leave a comment below.
The idea behind The Prosperity Project Merit Badges is to encourage students to accept it is ourselves that determine our reality, by the way we choose to look at situations, and that no matter what is going on around us we can not control, there are some things that we can control- and this is our perception.
I found it interesting to see how differently I felt personally looking at the two identical images, and how the slightest alteration in nothing other that removing one letter (the letter “I”) and changing the placement of another word (putting the word “choose” first), changed the way I felt.
I’ll put them here again, and take your time to acknowledge how you feel as you engage with each one.
Something I want students in The Prosperity Project- Journey of 1,000 Steps to understand about content creation (where someone else has made the article, image, podcast or video that you are interacting with) compared to content consumption (where you are not the creator, but the one who is reading, watching or listening) is that:
when YOU are the one reading, watching or listening to someone else’s content…..it is YOU who is ingesting the thoughts, feelings, and opinions of the person who has made it.
Many times we don’t realise this, and we don’t realise the impact it has on the way it makes us feel.
It’s very uncommon for us to watch or read something, and take note of the amount of thought gone into creating what we are engaging with, but as the two images above show– the difference in even the slightest change of wording can leave us feeling completely different from something which is identically designed.
When we understand this, we begin to see how marketing plays an important part in having a healthy mind and body, because we become aware of how our thoughts and feelings are subconsciously swayed or manipulated by the content we consume.
It is no accident The Prosperity Project- Journey of 1,000 Steps begins with asking students to define their core values, because the more you learn about content creation and content marketing, the more you will see the raw power which is unleashed each and every time a piece of content is made.
Knowing your core values is going to help you navigate this difficult journey ahead, as you receive more and more knowledge, and are faced with more and more choices of how you are going to use the knowledge you are learning as you engage with the people you have chosen to serve.
Today, I choose to have faith.
Faith in the process and faith in the journey, understanding no matter where we go or what happens to us, faith will always enable us to get through anything life throws at us- even as we navigate difficult days ahead.
Have a lovely day today, and if you would like to share your own social media image you created for step 9, please feel free to post it in the comments section below, and if you are struggling a little with your core values and would like to work 1-1 with me you can do so by clicking on the image below.
Enjoy your Sunday
